Jacqueline Davis

Jacqueline creates contemporary artworks in oils. She has a strong design background:Originally from England she studied Design for Communications Media and then obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education, before leading a High School Design and Technology department for several years. Then after a period running a ceramics business she finally settled into oil painting. She has recently returned to teaching, leading oil painting classes within Adult Education. Jacqueline began to develop her love of oil painting about 10 years ago, studying initially at the Art Students League in New York and taking workshops with working artists around the East Coast and eventually began painting full time herself.Jacqueline is passionate about art and art history. She led gallery visits with local groups to galleries all around the city of New York and beyond. Her work brings with it all her influences from her time growing up in England and her move to the US.

Statement

I am a colorist with a sense of composition that stems from my background in design and my love of art history. I create joyful, contemporary artworks, with a focus on florals, still life or landscapes, which I paint often depending on the season. My inspiration comes from all around me - from architecture, or from vintage pieces with a story to tell, or locations with an underlying sense of warmth and nostalgia - these are themes that tie all of my pieces together, like little stories that transport you to another place.
