StatementIn my paintings and mixed media collages, I intend to create a constructed world that is an invitation for each viewer to enter into and respond to.
The artistic process begins by drawing from print images and progresses with deliberate painting and meticulous attention to detail, edges, lines, and the mixing of colors. The interplay of color, value, and texture creates a sense of space and movement throughout the image, while the coexistence of the drawn shapes and the space around and between them, occupied by patterns and textures in translucent layers, contributes to the visual balance, unifying the seemingly disconnected images into a cohesive whole.
