Valerie Kleiner
I started with figure drawing in college and when I graduated I continued coursework at the Art Students League. I then apprenticed and took any creative job I could find. I freelanced as a furniture refinisher, faux finisher, mural painter, master piece reproduction artist, graphic design, and product design. Finally I was introduced to several amazing scenic artists and designers who took me under their wings and helped train me to take the annual exam to gain entrance into the Scenic Artist Union Local 829. As a scenic I worked with the most incredible artists and learned so. much from their knowledge of materials and techniques. Every job was and new experience and I am the artist I am today from these amazing opportunities. I have since worked privately and I am excited to be focusing on where my art will take me next.
StatementI am very interested in the study of light and color. I pick a subject based on the emotion emitted and I try to capture this feeling by exploring the luminosity, color play, motion or pattern of the image.
