Protected Dreamer

Protected Dreamer, Painting
Protected Dreamer
"Protected Dreamer" is a landscape of a transparent house, two moons, and three rainclouds. Inside of the house is a park bench oriented towards the glowing moons. The park bench is cradled by two streams of rain- one of which is entering through the back window and threading underneath the bench towards the front threshold of the house. The atmospheric landscape and iconic symbols of the moon, rainclouds, and house embody the complexity of aloneness. It is distant, involving little specificity of time and place; yet, it is a familiar collection of symbols, some painted from observation. Despite having protection, the empty park bench is still interacting with the outside environment. Aloneness can feel uncomfortably invasive, restful, introspective, observational, delusional, liberating, confining, expansive...
